Melbourne 2015 (Day 5)

Hello, Melbourne!

Flew here with Jetstar with the earliest flight at 6am.We then purchased round trip SkyBus tickets from their booth at  T3 (Tullamarine). It was after we spent almost 1 hour of searching and bickering to decide between SkyBus and the other airport shuttle. It cost $30 for round trip. Our experience with SkyBus was mostly good, we got dropped off in front of our hotel safely and we also got picked up from the hotel on time, it was all good, except the rude staff at the booth at the Southern Cross Station.

We stayed for 2 nights at Rendezvous Hotel, it's near the famous Flinders Street Railway Station and there's a tram stop in front of the hotel, where you can also take the free circle tram (35) from this stop. Great location, nice and helpful staffs and the room was quite good. Recommended!

Since we arrived early, our room wasn't ready yet. So we just leave our luggage at the concierge and went out to have brunch. We also topped up the MyKi card for $20 each, enough for 3 days and 2 nights we stayed in Melbourne.

It was 10.30 in the morning, the place was full so we had to wait for 30 minutes.

Cappuccino - $3.8

Grilled broccolini & sugar snaps with avocado, toasted almonds, poached eggs & heidi raclette on toast - $18

Blueberry & ricotta hotcake with berries, organic maple, seeds & double cream - $18

Both were nice. But for me, I like the savory one better. The ricotta hotcake was huge and thick, I don't think I can finished it by myself, I shared those 2 dishes with my sister, but after I ate a quarter of it I got sick of the hotcake and just ate the fruits.

Next stop: Burch & Purchese

What a pretty store, with a lot of pretty things. But since we were already full and most of their desserts are all pretty and appealing, we just tried (what we thought) the prettiest dessert there.

But after we tried it, it was too sour for us. Like way too sour. The two of us couldn't even finish half of it.

Went back to the hotel to rest for a bit, and our luggage were already in our room. Then went to Fitzroy to see their street art.

And on our way to Little Bourke Street, we past the Melbourne Museum.

The weather was too hot, so we went to Emporia Cafe to have a drink and enjoying the AC ;)

Next stop: Hutong Dumpling Bar

Read a lot of good reviews of this place.When we arrived, the restaurant is still closed until 5.30 pm which is 15 minutes more. Our 15 minutes of waiting was paid off with the food we had.

Pan-fried Dumplings (8pcs/Shanghai) - $13.20

Shao-long Bao (8pcs/East China) - $11.8

Both were good, but I like the shao-long bao better, it was sooo good, the skin was thin and the soup inside was so tasty and not too thick thus won't make you sick of it. The dumpling was also good, with thicker skin and lesser soup.

Then we strolled around the CBD, and had a crepe at La Petite Creperie.

Salted Caramel & Almonds ($6)

Had the salted caramel and almonds. It was soft and a little bit chewy, beware of the hot salted caramel, it was melted like a syrup, not too sweet so good!

Spotted: Black Swan on our way to Eureka Skydeck.

The general admission for an adult is $19.5
