HK Day 5 - Tim Ho Wan, Eggette, Jade Terrace, Shek Moh Fong

5 August '13

TIM HO WAN
On my 5th day in HK, finally we tried Tim Ho Wan :D Tim Ho Wan is one of the cheapest 1 Michelin star restaurant in Hong Kong. They are famous for their yummy and cheap dim sum.

And here's the famous Baked Bun!
Baked Bun w/ BBQ Pork (HKD 17)

The baked bun didn't disappoint us. The bun is crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. And don't forget the goodness of the bbq pork, it was sweet and savory. I'll tell you. It was good, dang good.

Steamed Rice w/ Meat & Dry Cuttle (HKD19)
My mom likes the steamed rice. The meat & dry cutlet were soft. Savory but not too salty. And there are water chestnuts inside.

Glutinous Rice Dumpling (HKD 25)
The Lo Mai Gai here was huge. I like this, just because they give a lot of glutinous rice! hehe :p Kidding, it was quite tasty too. There are mushroom, chicken and sausage inside.

Steamed Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce (HKD 15)
Steamed Fresh Shrimp (HKD 24)
Didn't try the chicken feet and the har gow.

Pan Fried Beef Dumpling w/ Kimchi & Seaweed (HKD 16)
I like this! The skin was thin, and there's crunchy texture from the kimchi. The dumpling tastes salty and a little bit sour. Don't forget to dip it in the vinegar dipping sauce!

Steamed Egg Cake (HKD 15)
It was sweet (but not overly sweet), soft and fluffy. My mom said this was like kue mangkuk gula merah.

Steamed Beef Ball w/ Bean Curd Skin (HKD 15)
My least favorite dish here, the ball was soft, salty and a little bit chewy.

Tonic Medlar & Petal Cake (HKD 10)
Served chilled, quite good and supposed to be healthy.

EGG WAFFLE

Egg Waffle - HKD 8
Egg Waffle/Eggette/Egg Puff is a popular Hong Kong street snack made from eggs, sugar, flour and evaporated milk. Crispy outside, soft and a little bit chewy inside.

JADE TERRACE

The food here was quite good, I like the soup, steamed fish and fried rice.

SHEK MOH FONG DESSERT HOUSE
After that, me and my sister went to search for a local dessert (like steamed egg white pudding or steamed milk pudding maybe?? I want to go to Australia Dairy Co / Yee Shun Milk Co so bad!), and after we asked the local, she said that there's a dessert place in Sai Yeung Choi Street, but she doubt that the dessert place has an english name. So we went to the street that she said, after 1 and a half hours of walking (actually she said that it wasn't that far, but we got lost and circling every single street out there) finally we found two dessert place in that street, don't know which/what store is she refering to. But we ended up in Shek Moh Fong Dessert House.

Milk and Egg Custard with Chocolate (Hot/Iced) - HKD 23

I chose the hot one, the custard was quite smooth, but the chocolate didn't taste that good. Should bought the plain one or the milk pudding!

Sesame Roll w/ Mango & Black Glutionus - HKD 26
The sesame roll was thick, the black glutinous was sweet and the mango was a little bit sour. Didn't really like it. Oh, and you can ask for a take-away by adding HKD 1.

.... And guess what, I just knew that Yee Shun Milk Co has a branch in Sai Yeung Choi Street! :( I thought they only have a store near Yau Ma Tei MTR! :'(

1 HKD = 1350 rupiah
