HK Day 1 - Cheung Hung Seafood Restaurant

1 August '13

Soo. Here's my story from my 1st day in Hongkong :)

We arrived around 5pm because our flight got delayed for about 20 mins, then we picked up our luggage, met my uncle and went to his place that took us almost 2 hours by bus :( After we put our luggage we went out to eat at Cheung Hung Seafood Restaurant in Boundary Street.

I don't know what the name of the food, because everything is written in mandarin.

So, I just knew (hehe :p) that in most restaurants in HK, you have to wash your tableware/dishes before you use it. In here, they give you 1 bowl and 3 pots (2 pots of tea and 1 pot of hot water). The white pot is to wash the dishes, but you can drink it too.

And finally the food came :)

Winter Melon Soup

The soup is not too salty, even a bit bland, but it was tasty. I ate like 4 bowls of it. There are chicken, crabstick, crab meat, silk squash (oyong) and lotus seeds. The soup served hot, and I like the winter melon, super smooth and with a melt in your mouth texture and it gives you this cool and soothing feeling afterwards.

Fried Pigeon
Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs

The dish was too oily, but I like the green beans, still crunchy.

Tofu Fritters
This one is quite good, the tofu is mashed and mixed with flour then fried.

There are chayote (?), cellophane noodles/glass noodles, mushrooms, and small shrimps with a little bit of soup. It was salty and tasty, with a hint of ginger.

My grandma called this dish ayam tito. The soup is milky, salty, tasty and savory. It's good to eat with rice. The chicken is tender, there's also beef tripe in the soup.

For dessert we had red and green bean porridge. Too sweet, don't really like it.

I don't know the price of each dish, but the total is HKD 568

1 HKD = 1350 rupiah
